Mostly Religious art work, Byzantine Icons are the visual and spiritual treasures of the Eastern Church.

They are an integral part of the Byzantine, Medieval art, a visible sign of the great devotion and love

 for Mary, Jesus Christ, Angels, Saints, the spiritual image of One self that transcends the body's forms.

Byzantine Icons create an ambiance for prayer, peace, meditation and connection with The True Self.

An icon (from Greek eik n "image") is a spiritual work of art, most commonly a painting, from Eastern Christianity and

certain Eastern Catholic churches in the general sense of symbol — i.e. a name, face, picture, a person readily recognized

as having some loving significance or embodying certain qualities that represents;

something of greater significance through literal or figurative spiritual meaning.

Byzantine refers to the Byzantine Empire where icons became an integral part of the Faith.

 Characterized by vivid colors, the persons depicted in icons seem to float in a meditative state.

Byzantine is derived from Byzantium, which was the old name of the city of Istanbul, situated on the banks

of the Bosporus in present-day Turkey.

An Original Icon takes about 1 year to cure. And it continues to deepen.

Most of The Original Byzantine Icons on bottom are few years old while the ones on top for sale are freshly done.

Note how the pigments and the layers are settled on most of the bottom ones and not as much on the top ones yet.

I find very special and a unique experience to follow the aging of your own Icon as you look at it frequently.

Icons are very inspiring to create a Monastic meditative ambiance and inner connection and in my opinion the technical

aspect of an Icon is important but it's the spiritual connection you feel while meditating with your Icon that is best.

It's an uplifting experience contemplating your Icon, a sweet reminder of who you really are, a Child of God.

Even if you see Private Collection or Artist's own I still can make

a similar Icon for you but because an Icon is absolutely Original it will mostly look a bit different.

Licia Atelier icons are Original, Byzantine Icons made in Egg tempera Monastic style

Licia learned while living in Israel in Monasteries as a novice.

The Icons are made like in Medieval Art style, however they don't follow all canonical rules.
